Anesthesiology Rotation

A 70-hour assignment in anesthesia, during which the resident will participate in the administration of general anesthesia to inpatients as well as ambulatory general anesthesia at the discretion and direct full-time supervision of an anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetist or Oral Surgeon.

Emergency Department Rotation

Emergency care experience is provided through a formal assignment to the Emergency Department and is scheduled as a block assignment of one week during the afternoon and evening hours.

Pathology/Clinical Laboratory Medicine Rotation

A three half-day rotation through the Pathology Department during which the resident will be under the supervision of a qualified pathologist.

Ambulance Rotation

A twelve to fifteen hour assignment with Kunkel Ambulance Service to observe the delivery of emergency medical care.

Community Medicine Rotation

An assignment in the Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare Adirondack Community Physicians office designed to provide the dental resident with practical experience in taking complete medical histories and performing appropriate aspects of physical examinations.

Regional Cancer Center Rotation (Optional)

A half-day assignment in the Regional Cancer Center to observe firsthand state-of-the-art technologies in cancer treatments such as: Linear Accelerator, Prostate Seed Implants, Stereotactic radiosurgery, High Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy, Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and Precision mask stabilization CT-directed treatments. The rotation will also introduce dental protocol for cancer patients, as well as hyperbaric oxygen protocols.
