Invitations for interview are designed to both identify high-quality candidates for our program and allow each candidate an opportunity to evaluate our program for its appropriateness to their postgraduate training goals and expectations. Interviews are scheduled to precede the Match Program deadline for submitting Rank Order Lists.

Canadian Trained Applicants:

Dental students from Canada who have attended American Dental Association Accredited Dental Schools are eligible to apply for a position in the program. Once accepted into the program the applicant would be required to obtain a visa.

Foreign Trained Applicants:

Foreign trained dentists must have completed, at a minimum, a two-year American Dental Association Accredited program to be eligible for a Limited Permit in New York State. This Permit is required in order to treat patients in the clinical setting.

New York State Department of Education does not recognize any Non-American Dental Association Accredited Dental Schools for purposes of obtaining licensure to treat patients in a hospital based general practice residency training program.

  • Completed Program Application Form
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Applicant Essay
  • Dean's Letter + 2 additional letters of recommendation
  • Transcripts from dental school (Official copies should be sent directly from your dental school registrar)
  • National Board Exam scores (Official copies should be sent directly from the National Boards)
  • Photo 2” x 2” (optional).

The selection process

National Matching Service

FaxtonSt. Luke’s Healthcare's General Practice Residency Program participates in the National Match Program. Your rank order submitted to the National Matching Service should specify program code- # 8605. Applicant's interested in being considered for a position during our initial round of interviews MUST register for the Match.

Post Match Openings

Any positions available after the Match results have been released in late January or early February will be handled directly through our program.

The interview process

Interviews are generally scheduled after all required documents have been received and reviewed by the Selection Committee. Interview dates are usually scheduled on pre-arranged Saturdays in October, November, and December. Interviews must be completed prior to the Match deadline for submitting our rank order list to the National Matching Service.
