Kids for Kids Fast Pitch Fall Festival Raises Money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospital
In October 2013, the first annual Kids for Kids Fast Pitch Fall Festival was held at Noyes Park in Sherrill, New York, and raised more than $1,200 for the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Hospital at Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare (FSLH).
The festival consisted of a softball tournament with four teams of 18 and under girls and two adult co-ed teams. Money was raised through basket raffles, concession stands and donations from area businesses with all proceeds benefitting CMN. The festival was started by a group of parents who thought it would be fun to have a tournament in October since so many are always held in the summer.
“It’s important for kids to have positive activities to do throughout the year that also help keep them active,” said Jeff Baker, one of the founding parents. “We felt that creating this festival with the proceeds benefitting CMN was a great opportunity to have kids help other kids. We hope to make this an annual event so that we can continue to support CMN and the great work they do.”
