Community members can sign up to be Miracle Makers during the event. A Miracle Maker pledges $10 per month for 12 months and pledges are accepted by using a major credit card such as VISA, MasterCard or Discover. Each $120 gift supports the care, services and equipment for our smallest patients. With each miracle maker gift a child in the hospital will receive a teddy bear.
Your CMN Dollars at Work
Whether it is a neighbor, a relative, or even your own child, every dollar raised goes to work directly benefiting local patients. How do CMN donations raised during the 2010 Radiothon and other CMN events help make a difference in the healthcare that is provided? Funds raised support programs, services and equipment that benefit maternal and children’s services at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare. Donations touch the lives of parents and children every day and allow us to:
- Provide an Infant CPR Education Program that teaches expectant parents how to perform the basic skills of CPR. The program provides them with a “CPR Infant Anytime Kit” to take home and review with grandparents, babysitters, and anyone else who needs this life-saving information. The kits are given to families during Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare childbirth classes.
- Offer cutting-edge education to physicians, nurses, first responders and other medical personnel allowing them to improve their techniques and teamwork in simulated hospital scenarios through the Keith A. Fenstemacher Center for Continuous Learning. The purchase of a female mannequin named Noelle, who simulates a live birth, is one of the key pieces of simulation equipment which will allow staff to learn, practice and master the latest techniques for patient care in a safe environment.
- Support the Pediatric Cardiology service and Pediatric Cardiology Telemedicine program, coordinated by Syracuse-based pediatric cardiologist Dr. Frank C. Smith, in partnership with Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare. Both programs exemplify a team approach to care and focus on diagnosing and treating newborns and children with possible heart problems.
- Offer the area’s only Level II Special Care Nursery, which is staffed 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week by neonatologists, physicians who provide special care to sick or premature babies.
- Provide obstetrical care services for women with little or no insurance to ensure they have healthy pregnancies, and provide care for all children, regardless of their family’s ability to pay.
