On Wednesday, May 7, 2014, Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare (FSLH) will host a free stroke support group presentation at 6pm in the Administrative Conference Room at St. Luke’s Home in the Center for Rehabilitation and Continuing Care Services, 1650 Champlin Avenue, Utica.

The presentation, “Hobbies That Help Reduce Stress and Promote Happiness,” will be lead by Courtney Lojewski, CTRS, and Megan Schlater, CTRS, recreational therapists at FSLH, who will discuss the benefits of recreational therapy, and how leisure interests and hobbies help manage stress and enhance quality of life.

Recreational therapy uses activity-based treatments to help individuals with illnesses or disabilities to improve or maintain their physical, social and cognitive skill sets.
