On Wednesday, July 9, Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare (FSLH) hosted a Child Passenger Safety Program, sponsored by the New Hartford Police Department, at the St. Luke’s Campus.

The FSLH Security Team worked in conjunction with the New Hartford, Whitestown and Utica Polic Departments, as well as the New York State Police, to inspect 33 cars free of charge to make sure car seats were properly installed in the vehicles.

If a child car seat was found to be unsafe, a new child car seat was provided and properly installed in the vehicle. There were a total of 19 car seat replacements. The car seats were provided at no charge through a New York State grant.

“This event is always very successful and we appreciate the support and involvement from law enforcement in our community,” said Christopher Kilmartin, Security Department Manager at FSLH.

Those unable to attend the event can contact the New Hartford Police Department at (315) 724-7111 to make an appointment to have their car seat inspected.
