Business Partner: First Source Federal Credit Union
Monday, August 9, 2010 - 13:42

The employees of First Source Federal Credit Union have a soft spot for kids. Making sure every child - newborns to teenagers - has quality healthcare is a priority at First Source. It’s just one reason why they became a Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare (FSLH) Foundation Business Partner.

“Part of our mission is to give of our time and talents to help others,” said Mike Parsons, First Source FCU’s President/CEO. “We’ve had a close relationship with Faxton-St. Luke’s for more than ten years. We are proud to be a sponsor of the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon and the Miracle Home, which both directly benefit kids. We also support the FSLH Foundation Golf Open and the St. Luke’s Home Wine Tasting and Auction.”

In its 70th year, First Source was formerly the Utica Teacher’s Federal Credit Union. “We changed our name in 1992 to be more reflective of our growing membership,” said Parsons. “We have more than 100 employees and branches in Herkimer, Utica and New Hartford. Anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends schools in Oneida & Herkimer Counties can become a First Source member.”

First Source employees also reach out to other human service agencies and local groups for the betterment of our community. They support the Utica Rescue Mission, Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees and the American Heart Association, just to name just a few. And since their roots are educationally based, they support our local colleges and schools, too.

“Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare is an asset to our community and we’re pleased to be a partner in the advancement of local healthcare,” added Parsons. “At First Source, we consider it our obligation - and a privilege - to help children and their families throughout the Mohawk Valley.”
